Our Partnership of schools

  • School Vision and Values

    Christian Ethos

Our school vision at Charleton C of E is embodied in the Bible verses, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." (John 15:1-8)

This verse beautifully portrays our school as a nurturing garden, with Jesus as the strong, life-giving vine, and God as the meticulous gardener who cares for every branch. We, the students, teachers, staff and families are akin to the branches growing from this vine. By remaining connected to Jesus, we receive the nourishment and support necessary to thrive and produce good fruits in our lives. Thus, at our school, we are dedicated to cultivating a nurturing environment where every student can grow and flourish.

    Our Christian values

Our Vision and Values underpin all that we do at Charleton C of E Academy. They run through everyday life at the school and shape how we act, how we treat each other and reinforce our curriculum offer. They give pupils confidence to listen, question, explore and challenge themselves in pursuit of their learning.

At Charleton, as a church school family, we want to show:

Friendship – "Love is more important than anything else, it’s what ties everything together" Colossians 3:14. This encourages us to be kind and supportive to everyone in the school, helping create an inclusive and caring community. We build friendships by reaching out, offering help, and including others, whether they are new students, younger pupils, or staff.

Honesty – "Whoever walks in integrity walks securely" Proverbs 11:3. Honesty is about being truthful with everyone in the school, including classmates, teachers, and staff. We are honest in our schoolwork, with our words, and in how we treat others, building trust and fairness across the whole school.

Respect – "And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them" Luke 6:31. We show respect by treating all members of the school community with kindness and consideration. This means listening when others speak, following school rules, and valuing the contributions of teachers, classmates, and support staff. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Responsibility – "Live in harmony with one another" Romans 12:16. We show responsibility by taking care of the school environment, following the rules, and looking out for others. Whether it's by helping to keep the playground tidy, volunteering for school tasks, or supporting classmates, we all play a part in creating a peaceful and productive school community.

Our curriculum intent is intrinsically linked to our vision statement; ‘Holding Hands, Striding Forward, Flourishing together’
